The Law and Democracy Center implements projects in two priority areas:
1) Universal jurisdiction and justice
Our objectives in this priority area:
- To create a single contact point in the area of universal jurisdiction;
- To provide legal assistance to victims of human rights violations;
- To analyze the most effective legal instruments based on the application of universal criminal jurisdiction;
- To raise awareness about constitutional and international guarantees against international crimes and impunity;
- To monitor, collect, and document names of judges and judicial decisions sentencing persons for civic activities in Belarus.
2) Constitutional and legal reform
Our objectives in this priority area:
- To provide expert assistance and guidelines on building and strengthening democratization for constitutional and legal system reform in Belarus;
- To organize and conduct series of seminars on constitutional and legal reform in Belarus;
- To propose expert assistance for the constitutional and other legal reforms aimed at building and strengthening democracy.
